Courmayeur is a traditional old mountain resort which inspite of its popularity has retained much of its old-world feel. The resort is very easy to access and is the most captivating of the Val d' Aosta resorts with stunning views of the Mont Blanc, comprehensive snowmaking and good range of intermediate runs. This is the perfect resort for those looking for rustic charm and a little glamour in their ski holiday.

The town has a charming traffic free centre with attractive shops, cobbled streets and historical buildings with a perfect backdrop of the mountains. The centre is quite large and lively, especially on weekends when the Italians from Milan and Turin flock to the resort. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars and the nightlife is a big draw for many. The bars are generally quite stylish with comfy sofas, offering cocktails and often live music. There are also nightclubs for those who like to party into the early hours.
In terms of skiing the resort does cater for all but Intermediate being the predominant type of pistes with many interesting, varied and tree lined slopes. There are also many beautiful cross country trails. For those looking for more adventure, a day trip to Chamonix is easily accessible, as is La Thuile and Pila, which are south of the resort. The area offers nearly 30 mountain restaurants, several of which are excellent and far more competitively priced than the French neighbouring resorts.

For non skiers, the village offers plenty of interesting sights, the nearby City of Aosta is worth a visit, its easy to meet friends for lunch on the mountain at Plan Chercouit and the sports centre is huge (tennis, ice-skating, squash, golf, gym, sauna, steam, etc). There is also plenty to see in the town which has a great atmosphere and a wander through the streets around Via Roma, with plenty of cute little shops can easily fill the odd afternoon.

All in all Courmayeur is a seductive location, offering stunning scenery,  great snow, an upmarket scene and easy proximity to Chamonix for skiing on the French side. The best of both worlds!
